Overview The Dental Director is a licensed physician of dentistry who adheres to the highest standards of evidence based medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times. This position will provide patient care, lead and have oversight for dental services provided at the Primary Care Clinics as well as establishing protocols and procedures to ensure quality of care for all patients.
Responsibilities
Participates as a member of clinic senior leadership team along with senior executive team.
Develop clinical practice and provides direct patient care.
Collaborate with Operations Director/Managers to ensure adequate clinics coverage.
Develop and guide strategic development of dental services, including medical-dental integration, treatment modalities, adequate access to care etc.
Collaborate with other clinic leaders in establishing and reaching targets for clinical productivity and utilization and ensure financial success of the department.
Responsible for monitoring and improving dental quality metrics and reaching defined quality goals.
Recommends process improvement and is early adopter of recommended changes of processes and procedures.
Engage and direct peer review activities to ensure that standards of care are met and evidence based treatment is provided.
Responsible for dental patients safety and quality assessment of new dentist clinical performances.
Provide clinical mentoring and support to staff in complex cases and treatment plans for all dental staff.
Develop â??grand roundsâ? dental program for the on-going education and training of dental staff.
Participate in key committees, e.g., Dental work group, Quality Council, Board Meetings as requested,, etc.
Recruit and retain new clinic dental providers.
Collaborate with finance and administrative departments to optimize clinic purchasing power and quality in securing dental equipment and dental laboratory services and supplies.
Represent dental clinic at state and national forums and at public facing activities that support the credibility and brand .
Utilize a Meaningful Use certified electronic health platform to document, manage patient information, and communicate with other team members.
Serves as a champion and super user of Electronic Health records.
