Bechtel is seeking a Project Accountant for Lima, Perú office. Working as part of the BBS finance team and Project teams, the Project Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance activities of different projects in Lima. The position will functionally report to the Financial Services Manager of M and M and operationally to the Project Accounting Manager. The position will be required to work with Project teams to ensure that all contract and non:contract billings are issued in a timely manner and are in accordance with contractual terms, cash receivable and accounts payable processing will be required, along with general finance support to the project with respect to employee accounts etc. The position will oversee the monthly reporting of project gross margin, cash forecasting, and any project hedging program and be required to interact with functional departments to ensure smooth operations of the Project in the Lima project office.
Job Responsibilities
:Assisting the Project Accounting Manager with the establishment and operation of financial and administrative controls in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements and applicable statutory regulations.
:Undertake the responsibility for project accounting activities, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers, including the accounts for the Agency payables.
:Support the Peruvian statutory reporting requirements and assist with those requirements as they pertain to the Projects.
:Ensures monthly billings are performed in accordance with contract terms.
:Manages the accounts receivable to ensure payments are received promptly.
:Monitors status of employee receivables as they pertain to the project and works with project management in ensuring all accounts are current.
:Provides analysis of financial information, estimates of costs and preparation of forecasts and adhoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management.
:Provides support to Project teams with respect to expense reports, MyTime timesheets and Payroll queries.
:Coordinates with the Project Accounting Manager to respond to client inquiries and audits relative to finance related matters, and may work with local client representatives, under the direction of the Project Accounting Manager, to interpret provisions of contracts as it relates to accounting and billing processes.
Basic Qualifications
:Requires knowledge of professional accounting, financial or tax concepts and principles plus working knowledge of related activities gained through specialized education and/or work experience of a progressively responsible nature.
:Basic knowledge of general business practices.
:Understanding of Controller organizational structure, policies, and procedures.
:Experience and proficiency in basic accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, financial accounting, tax. Skill in analyzing and problem solving techniques as applied to accounting or tax areas.
:Skill in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with other Controller personnel or division or project functional groups.
:Working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions.
