Its exhibition program is a testament to its commitment to preserving Australia diversity and interpreting the nation's influential personalities and transformative events that have indelibly shaped the character of the nation**The key duties of the position include**:Philanthropy is pivotal to the sustainability and future growth of National Museum of Australia, ensuring its vision and strategic aspirations are met. Leading a small dynamic team, as Head of Development, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to drive a culture of philanthropy and private giving, aligning with the Strategic and Business Plans of the National Museum of Australia. Working closely with the executive, senior management team and Museum Council, you will identify prospects, design compelling proposals, steward donors and secure major gifts for the long-term benefit of the Museum.You will provide strategic direction and inspirational leadership to the Development team, its programs and goals, and drive business development relating to charitable fund accounts, community funds, collective giving, major gifts, corporate partners, bequests and in-kind contributions to reach income growth targets. Developing compelling cases for support will be crucial to solicit funding for key priority projects that require philanthropic investment including refurbishment of the First Australians Gallery, Australia's Defining Moments Digital Classroom, educational programs, collections and other significant programs. Increasing awareness across professional advisors and specific donor market segments will be important, along with building connections and engagement with the Museum Friends (Affinity Program), volunteers, partners, donors and wider community.**About you**Proven track record of achieving income growth and surpassing ambitious fundraising goals, coupled with genuine interest in Australian history, art and storiesAbility to build, inspire and mentor high-performing teamsExcellent communication, attentive listening, and outstanding interpersonal skills, along with the ability to craft compelling narratives to captivate the hearts and minds of donors throughout the philanthropic journeyRelevant experience leading fundraising growth strategies, teams and donor relationshipsCFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) or other fundraising qualifications highly regarded**Eligibility**- be an Australian citizen- undergo a number of pre-employment checks, including a police record check**Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those from culturally diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
