Wildlife Trafficking Field Researcher : Loreto

Pantheras work in Latin America focuses on feline research and conservation,with a special focus on jaguars.The increase in trafficking of jaguar parts requires urgent action based on adequate information to address this threat. As a field researcher, you will be in charge of monitoring and collecting information related to illegal wildlife trafficking and in particular jaguar trafficking in Peru. The position will be based in Iquitos, Peru, where he/she will support our staff and efforts to counter wildlife trafficking from other agencies.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCollect and record wildlife trafficking data for Peru, specifically Loreto, from all available resources, including the media.Identify primary and secondary sources of information to collect reliable data on wildlife trafficking.Develop a research plan, describing activities related to Counter Wildlife Trafficking (CWT) in the context of local communities.Create analytical reports onwildlifetraffickingbased on data collected in the field and secondary sources.Develop and maintain a range of community contacts to support the research process.Develop and maintain contacts within SERNANP (National Service of Natural Protected Areas), GRA (Regional Environmental Management) for information reporting purposes.Provide and developtraining in conjunction with the CWT technical lead
