Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)**Main Purpose of Job**:The Department for International Trade (DIT) secures UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment, and championing free trade. In this role you will lead on internal monitoring and reporting across all of our teams based in Latin America and the Caribbean (LATAC), as well as on a range of data projects and, constantly evolving how we measure and demonstrate our impact.**Roles and Responsibilities**:Performance management- You will have oversight of the performance of all DIT LATAC Teams (over 19 countries and 8 priority sectors) against a variety of trade, investment and market access metrics.- You will lead on setting country and business-sector targets (key performance indicators) as part of a business planning process - balancing ambitious targets with realistic delivery. This is underpinned by your ability to coordinate a large number of data points and contacts at the same time.- You will create, update and adapt monthly performance impact reports, as well as other ad-hoc reports, based on the region's regional plan. You will need to engage with DIT LATAC senior leaders and other leadership figures across the region to facilitate their understanding of internal performance.- You will horizon-scan to spot emerging areas of under-performance against targets, and work with DIT LATAC's Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Deputy Trade Commissioner (DTC) to address problem areas.- You will lead on all data for Quarterly Operations Forums - that is, discussions between DIT LATAC's senior leadership and market/sector leads; you will need to provide check and challenge to colleagues on performance to date.- You will participate in performance discussions with colleagues in DIT's headquarters in the UK, providing evidence and robust defence on DIT LATAC's performance to date.- You will ultimately lead on all data/performance projects commissioned from the UK team.Special Projects- You will lead on a number of discreet projects with colleagues across LATAC, including but not limited to: assisting the International Markets Team; supporting LATAC's Director of Market Access with bespoke research; and supporting both the DTC and HMTC on commissions from DIT's headquarters.- You will provide oversight of membership and access to various data platforms and market intelligence software funded centrally by the DIT LATAC team.Organizational data- You will work with the COO to continue to develop and improve all variety of data used by DIT in Latin America and the Caribbean, to support enhanced performance and decision-making.- You will be a regional champion for our management information tools, such as Data Hub, Digital Workspace and Data Workspace. You will proactively encourage its appropriate use, upskilling colleagues, sharing best practices and responding promptly to queries. This will see you interact with DIT headquarters (London) and other DIT regions around the world.Economic analysis- You will keep track of key macro-economic and trade figures relating to Latin America and the Caribbean and the UK's trade with the region.- You will work with HQ colleagues to lead and support on quarterly data calls with all Country Directors.- You will support colleagues to access, produce and analyse data, promoting regional consistency of economic data in line with headquarters' policy and assisting in ad hoc requests related to trade and economics.Essential qualifications, skills and experience- At least two years experience of working with data.- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, in particular knowing how to transform complex data sets into useful dashboards.- Bilingual professional proficiency in English and in Portuguese.- Advanced knowledge of international trade data and use of public trade data sets.- Committed team player with ability to self-motivate, resilience, and autonomy- Excellent research and report-writing skills in English.- Ability to innovate, solve problems, prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks.- Experience using data/market research platforms.- Experience of using CRM platformsDesirable qualifications, skills and experience- At least one year work experience in a trade and/or investment promotion organisation.- Experience of analysing trade performance data- Understanding of trade promotion, investment, and market access work.- Proficiency with using ERP and data visualisation platforms, such as SAP and Tableau, respectively.- Required behaviours- Seeing the Big Picture, Delivering at Pace, Communicating and Influencing, Working Together Application deadline Application deadline - day Application deadline - month Application deadline - year- 12 March 2023Grade- Executive Officer (EO)Type of Position- Full-time, PermanentWorking hours per week- 35-39Region- Latin America and Spanish speaking CaribbeanCountr
