The Department of Civil Engineering at the Universidad de Ingenieria y Tecnologia UTEC', Lima, Peru, invites applications from outstanding individuals for one faculty position.We anticipate hiring at the Assistant Professorship level, although truly exceptional candidates may be suitable for Associate or Full Professorship levels.We are especially interested in motivated individuals with experience in any of the following areas of Geotechnical or Construction Engineering , but not limited to : Geophysics, Soil Dynamics, Applied Seismology, Physical and Numerical Modeling, Soil-Structure Interaction, Foundations and Earth Structures Engineering, Geosynthetics, Hydrogeology, Unsaturated Soils, Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Forensics,Coastal & Offshore Geotechnics.Requirements :- Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, or relevant fields- Teaching experience in Geotechnical or Construction Engineering courses (at least as teaching assistant).- At least 2 journal publications indexed in Scopus (or other relevant databases) in the past 3 years.- Fluent in English- The candidate should be able to teach effectively in Spanish at both undergraduate and graduate levels. If not fluent, she / he is expected to reach Spanish proficiency within 2 years of joining- Excellent written & oral communication skills- Strong interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications :- Experience writing grant proposals- Experience with international presentations and / or committees.- Affiliated to international professional associations (relevant to the position).- Demonstrated interest in working with academic, industry, and / or community partners.- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.Once hired,the successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, to advise thesis (undergraduate and graduate levels), to obtain competitive external funding, to establish an effervescent cross-disciplinary research program, to lead student chapters (and organizations), and to contribute through service to the profession, to the department, and to UTEC.Applications will be considered from February 2024, and will continue until the position is filled.
